The student councils of the University of Murcia and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena have developed a common document with demands from university students for political parties ahead of the elections on May 26.
The intention of the two student councils is that the candidate parties to preside over the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia are committed to achieving the objectives they raise before the elections are held.
The measures requested by the students are focused on reducing the costs of university education, claiming that master's rates are equal to those at the undergraduate level and a 99% bonus on the first enrollment of each subject.
The president of the Council of Students of the University of Murcia (CEUM), Borja Moreno Buendía, points out that this reduction in no case should result in a reduction of budgets to universities.
The document also calls for the implementation of a single transport voucher for all students in the Region, which makes it cheaper to travel between the different municipalities.
In addition, new public transport lines connecting the Arrixaca Health Sciences Campus with the center of Murcia are also being requested;
as well as improve the lines and review the train and bus prices that connect the districts with the different campuses.
The creation of more libraries and study rooms, the increase of autonomous complements to the ERASMUS scholarships and the improvements in infrastructures are other issues raised in their document by students.
The text has already made it to PP, PSOE, We, Citizens, Change the Region, PACMA, Vox, We are Region and Municipal Coalition.
