The Faculty of Computing of the University of Murcia hosts this Saturday, May 18, the regional final of the contest Technovation Murcia, in the school of the Region will demonstrate their technological skills by presenting projects they have been working on during the course.
In this final there are almost two hundred girls and teenagers who will present to the judges the mobile applications they have designed and developed to solve problems they have detected in their environment.
The presentation of the projects will take place in different classrooms of the Faculty of Computing between 10.30 and 13.30.
The best initiatives six in junior category, for girls from 10 to 14 years, and many others in senior, for young people between 15 and 18-, are selected by a jury of experts and will go in August to the headquarters of Google in San Francisco , where the final phase is celebrated.
The winning teams are awarded $ 145,000 in prizes and scholarships.
In addition, the lobby of the Faculty of Computing will host a technology fair throughout the morning.
After the deliberation of the judges, the auditorium of the University Social Center Espinardo campus, will host the awards ceremony and a talk entitled 'Our body, our best App'.
The day will begin at 9.30 am with an official welcome ceremony in the auditorium of the Social Center.
Technovation is an educational program led by Iridescent, an international non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire girls and young people to become leaders and innovators, solving problems in their community, related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, through the use of technology and entrepreneurship.
In the Murcia Region Talento STEM, a non-profit organization, collaborates with the launch of this international training program in which professionals from the University of Murcia are also involved through the tutoring of projects.
The vice-rector of Strategy and Digital University, Pedro Miguel Ruiz;
and the vice-rector of Enterprise, Entrepreneurship and Society, Alicia Rubio, will participate in these conferences.
