The rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, participated this Thursday in the General Assembly of the CRUE in Madrid in which he elected José Carlos Gómez Villamandos, rector of the University of Córdoba, as the new president of the institution by 69 votes in favor and 1 in white.
The rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, congratulated Gómez Villamandos for his new responsibility and wished him luck in managing CRUE's challenges ahead.
Luján has also publicly acknowledged the work done during his tenure by the outgoing president, Roberto Fernández, rector of the University of Lleida, because "he has dedicated two years of intense work to highlight the important work that CRUE does in defense of the Spanish university system, its quality, the equality of opportunities that it must represent, and in favor of the coordination and harmony of the institutions that comprise it ".
After his election, José Carlos Gómez Villamandos, made clear that his mandate will continue the line of recent years, especially in the firm defense of the interests of Spanish universities in the drafting of education and research laws;
as well as in collaboration with the Government to promote standards that allow universities to grow.
On the other hand, the General Assembly of the CRUE delivered at its meeting this Thursday of the CRUE Medal of Honor to the ONCE Foundation and the Vives Network of Universities, which brings together more than twenty universities from four European states;
"Some acknowledgments deserved for the work they do", said Rector Luján.
