The University of Murcia publishes, through its editorial Editum, the book 'Learn with Tachín and their emotional and social stories', aimed at teachers of school children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their families.
This book is the result of the work of researchers from the Faculty of Education and will be presented at an event that will take place tomorrow, May 16, in the Mariano Baquero room of the Faculty of Letters, at 7:00 p.m.
'Learn with Tachín' includes didactic materials that are complemented with other audiovisuals accessible through the website www.aprendecontachin.um.es.
The book is composed of cards that work around emotional and social histories whose theme has emerged from the demands of teachers of students with special educational needs.
The aim and purpose of these stories is to favor the recognition and understanding of emotions by children with autism.
In addition, these materials also work on the prediction of beliefs, the resolution of conflicts, as well as the use of irony, lies or pious lies;
resources that can help improve the metaphorical communication of these students.
The cards work with natural settings for children, such as the school, the family context or the close social context.
In this way, they can learn to solve situations of their day to day and get tools to interact with the people present in their closest context.
Therefore, this didactic material is designed to be worked both in the classroom by teachers and at home by the family, so that the collaboration of both educational sectors favors the improvement of these emotional and social skills in those who they need it.
The work is coordinated by Josefina Lozano Martínez, professor at the University of Murcia in the Faculty of Education and director of the research group Communication, Educational Innovation and Attention to Diversity at the University of Murcia.
