The sports teams of the University of Murcia have finished their participation in the Spanish University Championships with excellent results, which exceed the results of last year and improve the expectations of departure.
A total of 67 UMU athletes have been awarded a medal, both in individual sports and in team competitions.
This is an unprecedented success so far for the Sports Activities Service of the institution in some Spanish Championships.
The count leaves a total of 26 medals, distributed in 7 golds, 7 silvers and 12 bronzes.
In the collective sports section, the 6 medals of the Olympic wrestling team, the bronze of men's football and women's indoor soccer, the podium of the male and female 3x3 basketball teams stand out, as well as the gold conquered by the sailing team.
In total, 67 UMU athletes have hung a distinction around their necks.
Regarding individual sports, the good role of the athletes Jaime Raja, Borxa Ramo and Iván Hernández is noteworthy;
the performance of Miguel Soto in table tennis with two medals;
and the effort of Eduardo Sánchez to win 4 metals in adapted swimming.
The gold medals in weightlifting and judo conquered by Anabel Sánchez, Clara Sánchez and Ángeles López along with three other medals in taekwondo are also among the outstanding successes.
The University of Murcia has organized the final 3x3 Basketball, Olympic Wrestling and Weightlifting tournaments of these University Spanish Championships, placing itself as a reference institution within the competition.
This concludes a successful campaign that brings excitement and pride to the entire UMU sports project.
