The Governing Board has agreed at its meeting today, at the proposal of the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, the approval of the Collaboration Agreement with the Municipal Water and Sanitation Company of Murcia SA, whose purpose will be the coordination of efforts between both entities to optimize the application of the social rate, aimed at customers in a situation of economic precariousness, ensuring the maximum effectiveness and efficiency of their results.
In 2018, 4,485 families, made up of 15,914 people, benefited from this aid, which is intended for Emuasa customers who prove the need for assistance in the payment of their water, sewer and meter bill receipts.
In order to provide coverage to the largest number of families, a reduced rate is established for the provision of the drinking water and sewerage home supply service, which covers the minimum household supply according to the number of people who make up the family unit up to one year. maximum of 110 liters per inhabitant per day, an amount that exceeds that established by WHO.
For cases of homes transferred in which an association, NGO, non-profit organization or public administration are involved, they will have to provide a copy of the agreement or document that regulates such assignment, in addition to the beneficiary family fulfilling the accreditation of services social.
Rates of a social nature
This agreement is complemented by the new social rates approved last month by the City Council for water and sewerage consumption for families at risk of exclusion, which will be reduced by 25%.
This percentage will also apply to the garbage rate, provided that the sum of all the income of the members that inhabit the house does not exceed the SMI.
With respect to the amortization of the old debt -of more than six months- it will affect those who access the social rate.
For the less than half a year, the circumstances of each person will be met, but the supply cut will never be executed nor will legal actions be taken to recover it while the situation that gives the right to access the social rate lasts.
On the other hand, the reduced rate of housing with more than four members may also benefit single-parent families or with a disabled member with a large family title despite being less than five members.
