A group of students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Murcia has reached the semifinals of the international competition of Law of the European Union 'Europa Law Moot Court Competition', which has been held in Portugal during the month of April.
The 'Europa Law Moot Court Competition' is a tournament of law students of the European Union in which eight prestigious universities from seven countries participate every year for six editions.
During the competition, the participating teams must simulate a dispute concerning a current legal conflict before the Court of Justice of the European Union, in accordance with its rules of procedure and before a demanding jury, which includes members of its own Court of Justice of the European Union.
Each participating team must prepare both parts of the litigation, both the lawsuit and the defense, and present them orally in English before the jury.
Silvia López Arnao, María del Rosell Ros García, Justyna Smela Wolski, and Carlos Martínez García were the students who represented the UMU in the competition.
Juan Jorge Legs, Professor of International Public Law and International Relations, was responsible for preparing the team;
the professor emeritus Cesáreo Gutiérrez acted as advisor, and other teachers collaborated with the oral essays.
