In the two months since the beginning of the works, 2,400 meters of pipe have already been installed for telecommunication, traffic lights and public lighting installations and the dismantling of street furniture, street lamps, signage, mupis and telephone booths has been completed.
The renovation and pedestrianization works of the second phase of Avenida Alfonso X, which began on March 6, take place at the pace envisaged in the technical plan.
In these two months, 2,800 square meters of asphalt have been demolished on the side of the avenue, between Pérez Casas and Jaime I, and in the central area of ​​the promenade, where, in addition, the 57 has been extended and compacted. % of artificial gravel and executed the pluvial connections.
In order not to hinder the accessibility during the Spring Festival, it was decided to delay until this week the beginning of the demolition, sacking and concreting works next to the facades of the buildings.
Likewise, all the dismantling of the street furniture, streetlights, signaling, mupis and telephone booths has been carried out, as well as the civil works of the municipal telecommunications network, the traffic signaling and street lighting network, except for the surroundings of the Plaza Circular.
For this, 2,400 linear meters of pipe have been placed to dispose the three installations.
Both the deviation of telecommunications cabling and signaling connection were carried out coinciding with the school holidays to minimize their impact on traffic, since it was necessary to cut off the electricity supply of Jaime I and Gutiérrez Mellado traffic lights.
The forecast of work for the next month is concrete from the street Pérez Casas to Jaime I with the installed gutter and start next May 20 in the same order the paving with Piedra del Cabezo Gordo and Piedra del Cantón (accessible pavements).
Then, following the same process, the concrete from Pérez Casas to Calle Lepanto and Plaza Circular would be made.
Good rhythm
These actions give continuity to Phase I, from Jaime I to La Circular, open to citizens in October, and together they will allow to gain about 15,000m2 of pedestrian surface before the end of the year.
This Phase II covers an area of ​​8,217 m2 and 200 m in length.
The work, promoted by the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, has a budget of 2,198,542 euros and an implementation period of 8 months.
