The UMU exhibits a sample of four artists to address coexistence as a unifying element of society (07/05/2019)

The University of Murcia opens this Wednesday, May 8, the exhibition 'Convivencias', by Alba Cuellar, Ramón González, Rocío Kunst and Mar Sáez, which will take place in the José Nicolás Almansa room of the University Museum, at 8:00 p.m. .

Through this exhibition that brings together pieces by four artists of great relevance in the national art scene, the curators have tried to "draw a line between different artists, styles and techniques in order to create a common project and to treat the same subject as is the coexistence through people and especially art, as a unifying element of society.

The Murcian artist Alba Cuéllar is known for embodying the gaze of women through painting on canvas, inspired by objects from everyday life that over the years have accompanied her in captivity in the domestic environment.

Pots, forks, knives, crockery or corkscrew abandon their place and traditional function to tell us a story that, until not long ago, remained in complete silence and that the artist is responsible for capturing in essence.

The photographic project of the visual artist Rocío Kunst is based on the exhibition of intimacy in her relationship with other artists.

Until now, the intimate show had only shared reactions with the audience.

In this case, the spectrum of action is extended in function and coexistence with projects of different praxis and theories.

Mar Sáez is an artist whose style, somewhere between commercial photography and author photography, focuses on treating feelings and people in an honest and risky manner, which allows her to use her camera with complete freedom, as shown in this work, 'Vera y Victoria', a work that shows a delicate love story between two people, one of them transsexual.

It is a documentary project approached from closeness and sincerity, full of sensitivity, respect and freshness.

The exhibition, curated by students of the Master's in Research and Management of the Historical-Artistic and Cultural Heritage of the UMU, can be visited until next May 31st.
