Solidarity Surgery originates in the year 2000 on the initiative of a group of health professionals within the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Hospital and aims to provide medical assistance through surgery, in countries with shortcomings or lack of health coverage, health development aid and training of health personnel in these countries.

This year they visited Eastern Sahara, more specifically in Rabuni, near the Algerian city of Tindouf.

The project has been extended for 13 days in which they performed a total of 143 surgical interventions, as well as more than 200 attentions in outpatient consultations.

The expedition consisted of 3 general surgeons, 1 maxillofacial surgeon, 1 urologist, 2 plastic surgeons, 1 emergency doctor, 2 anesthetists and 7 nurses.

In addition to the assistance part of the trips of cooperation, during the year Surgery Solidarity performs multiple cultural, sports or leisure activities in order to pay, along with other funds, the projects they carry out.
