"We recover our traditions and the essence of our roots through methods as old as this, inherited from our ancestors and that are part of our history" José Guillén highlighted
The 600 palm trees in the area have the traditional method of irrigation following the oldest methods based on the opening and closing of cork.
This system is committed to the traditions and culture of Murcia in its more than 9000 square meters.
Thus, the Councilor for Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén, stressed that "we recover our traditions and the essence of our roots through methods as old as this, inherited from our ancestors and are part of our history".
This system is based on the irrigation of the opening and closing of the boards.
These irrigation works carried out by two people for two days, since it requires the opening of some gates to run the water, and the closing of others so that it arrives correctly at its destination.
In this way, and always using traditional tools, is still betting on the roots of Murcia in a space that is open
to the public that wishes to visit it.
"It is a show open to Murcia, and we invite families to visit the Palm Grove.
What we want is for people to know that there are still places in Murcia where they are still using the oldest methods and characteristics of the garden of Murcia, being able to feel the oldest Murcia, which is still present in our green areas, "explains the mayor José Guillen.
