ODSesiones is the project that the University of Murcia is developing to promote and raise awareness about the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
Until April 2021, the University will dedicate one month to each of these objectives with outreach, play, training and solidarity activities.
The month of May revolves around objective 4: quality education.
Currently, more than 265 million children are not in school and lack the basic knowledge of reading and math.
There have been advances in school enrollment rates in the last ten years, but even so it is important to strive to improve the situation and achieve a universal education.
Objective 4 of the project has the following goals that it wants to achieve by 2030: ensuring that all children complete primary education, that all children are prepared for primary education, equal access for men and women women to higher education, increase the number of young people and adults who have the necessary skills to access decent work and entrepreneurship, eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of education, ensure that all students acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to promote sustainable development, build educational facilities that take into account the needs of children and people with disabilities and gender differences;
increase the number of scholarships available to developing countries;
and expand the offer of qualified teachers also through international cooperation.
