The Spanish University Championship has already surpassed its equator with the UCAM leading the medal table in a clear way and on track to revalidate its hegemony as 'the university of sport'.
Before starting the final straight with the ten competitions that will be played during the month of May, the Catholic University already has 75 medals (51 golds, 16 silvers and 8 bronzes).
One more year, swimming has been the test that more metals has contributed to the locker of the UCAM with a total of 44 (31 golds, 10 silvers and 3 bronzes).
With the absence of Mireia Belmonte and Teresa Perales, who could not participate at the last minute, other teammates took over the leadership of the team captaining the victory: Alberto Lozano (7 golds), Melani Costa (6 golds and 2 silver), Sarai Gascón, ( 4 golds) and José Antonio Marí (4 golds).
And as usual, there are other sports in which the Catholic has imposed its traditional domain such as badminton (6 golds), basketball (male and female gold), cross country (3 gold, 2 silvers and 1 bronze) or tennis ( 4 golds and 1 silver).
With these results, the goal of exceeding one hundred medals is very close because in the immediate horizon competitions are shown in which UCAM athletes have many options such as karate, athletics, taekwondo, table tennis or orientation.
