The U-ranking 2019 of the Valencian Institute of Economic Research and the BBVA Foundation places the UCAM as one of the twenty Spanish universities with the lowest dropout rate, specifically in the seventeenth position .. Only 12.9% of the students in the UCAM leave the university system and 20.9% do not finish the degree started.
The national average of abandonment is of 33.3% reason why the UCAM is almost thirteen points below presenting / displaying almost 80% of students that finalize the studies of degree that began and more than 87% that remain in the university system.
This figure is also reflected at the regional level since at the University of Murcia the dropout rate of the degree started is 27.6% while in the Polytechnic University of Cartagena this figure rises to 34.5%.
The ranking analyzes the students who began their university studies in the 2012-13 academic year.
Manuel Ruiz, Vice Chancellor of Quality and Academic Organization of the Catholic University, values this data in a very positive way and thinks that they are the result "of the correct application of the internal system of quality assurance in teaching processes that has a considerable impact on some excellent learning results in all our degrees ".
In addition, highlights that "these results highlight the methodologies used by our university assessing the fact of having small groups, an academic and personal tutoring and an updated and practical training that gets the student to acquire the skills and competencies necessary to integrate successfully in the world of work.
Another key point for Manuel Ruiz is "the orientation that is offered to the student in the admission process and in the development of their studies since at the time of choosing a degree it is very important that they have clear professional opportunities, the methodology of study and the basic knowledge that you have to have to start your career as well as your own vocation and interests ".
Added to this system and the follow-up that the university makes of it, also contribute to these good results "the own design of the different degrees offered in the UCAM and its theoretical-practical contents that make the student himself interested in an optimal way by the development of their studies getting them to finish in the planned times, resulting in the dropout rate being much lower than the national average ".
