More than 500 people went yesterday in demand of information to the two violet points installed by the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, directed by Conchita Ruiz, on the occasion of the celebration of Bando de la Huerta.
These services, created with the aim of informing, sensitizing and preventing sexist attitudes and behavior against women, were located in La Fica, where La Repanocha was held, aimed primarily at an adolescent audience, and in the Plaza de la Mercé.
At the La Fica point, staffed by three professionals, 150 people - 105 women and 45 men - asked for information, interested in the resources offered through leaflets, badges and stickers.
Regarding the violet point of the Mercé, the demand for information of 360 people was recorded, of which 250 were women and 110 were men, both young and people of adult age.
The demand was mainly informative, but there was an incident when two men rebuked the people in charge of attending that point, for which the presence of the Local Police was required.
Next Saturday, the day of the Burial of the Sardine, will be installed two violet dots in the Plaza de la Universidad, from 13 to 21 hours, and in the Garden of Fame, from 13 to 21 hours.
In addition, during the WARM Festival, which is held on May 4 and 5, another one will be set up at the FICA fairgrounds from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
For the development of this campaign we also count on the collaboration of Civil Protection, Red Cross and Local Police services and with three professionals in each point specialized in equality and gender violence prevention.
The hiring of this personnel is financed with the subsidy of the State Pact against Gender Violence 2019.
