In the words of Ursula Gibson, president of OSA, "Artal's contribution to the study of human vision is tremendously important, his fundamental research, which has also led to clinical innovations, deserves the recognition of the Tillyer Prize."
The OSA highlights from Artal the development of innovative techniques applicable to vision, from the point of view of ophthalmology and biomedicine.
In addition, he considers that he has been a pioneer in important advances in the methods to study eye functioning and has contributed substantially to the understanding of the factors that limit human visual resolution.
The OSA values that, thanks to its work, instruments and devices currently in clinical use have been developed.
