The Councilor for Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén and the Councilor for Social Rights and Development Cooperation, Conchita Ruiz visited Terra Natura to participate in the program '12 meses contigo 'accompanying the association D'Genes.
This program, a pioneer in Spain, organizes each month a different action aimed at a specific social group that takes place in the facilities of the animal and nature park.
In this way, Terra Natura opens the doors to groups with specific needs and carries out accessible activities adapted to all Murcia.
"Last year, more than 337 people with specific needs benefited from this pioneering initiative in Spain, which is a great opportunity to develop and learn new activities surrounded by nature, through which animals also learn values ​​and can interact with the animals "has informed Conchita Ruiz.
Throughout the year, small groups of different associations and organizations can enjoy a safari and various activities organized in the park itself, adapted to the specific needs of each of them.

The planned actions will be developed together with NGOs and entities working with these groups, such as Todos Somos Campus (UMU and ONCE), ACOFAMT, Murcia Norte Social Services Center, D'Genes, Abamurcia, Project 13-17, FADE, ASSIDO, Adaner Murcia, Proyecto Hombre, Project Abraham and CEOM.
In addition to visiting the park facilities, they were able to learn about the actions of the Terra Natura professionals in different areas of action such as animal care and care, marketing or administration.

Terra Natura is considered as a totally accessible venue.
The adaptation has been made with contributions from various organizations, which defined the aspects to be taken care of.
For example, climbing accesses have been adapted, the holes in the trees have been filled, the closings and entrances to the bathrooms have been conditioned, specific areas for people in wheelchairs have been installed and improvements in the hearing system have also been applied.
Zootherapy is another activity that takes place in the Adapted Summer School.
More than 50 children participate in this therapy with sea lions, dogs, lemurs, giraffes, raptors or fallow deer.
These therapies are taught by therapists and the objectives are physiotherapeutic, psycho-social and logopedic, among others.
They are aimed at students with disabilities, between 5 and 20 years.
