The University of Murcia and the CARM have signed an agreement on Monday to create the Chair of Innovation for Intelligent Specialization in order to generate knowledge and support the talent that contributes to the development of this field in the productive sectors and obtain quality employment.

In the same act, an agreement has also been signed between the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the CARM to create the Industry 4.0 Chair.

With these agreements, the Institute of Development provides each of the universities with 40,000 euros for the implementation of the chairs.

The Minister of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment, Javier Celdrán, said that "the system of chairs that our public universities have is a success given that it serves to unite the university and the productive sector. new, which we promote from the regional government, will contribute to generate knowledge to increase the competitiveness of companies and will make a 'radiography' of the regional situation in innovation and industry 4.0, know their potential, weaknesses and adopt measures of progress that generate quality employment uniting the university and business world ".

José Luján, rector of the UMU, has shown his satisfaction for signing this agreement because "the transformation of the reality we are attending forces us to review our training guidelines and adapt to the new times."

"A year ago, when we arrived at the rectorship, the University of Murcia had 11 chairs and today, they are already a total of 24", something of which has shown pride thanks to the involvement of the Vice Chancellorship of Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society of the UMU.

Two new observatories

The creation program of the Chair of Intelligent Specialization of the University of Murcia includes the creation of an Observatory of Innovation in the Region of Murcia, a research study in innovation, training sessions and dissemination and exploitation of results and outreach.

For its part, the Chair of Industry 4.0 of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena contemplates the creation of Observatory 4.0 (O40) of the Region of Murcia, as well as the study of the development and implementation of this technology in the Region, which is revolutionizing the products , services, production and organization of companies in general and, in particular, the industry.
