More than 250 public events, 150 different locations, 260,000 plants and millions of flowers, 43 barracks and 50,000 programs to celebrate 'Murcia Renace'

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture, and European Programs, today presented the program of the Spring Festival 2019, the largest in history in terms of number of events, "more 250 events open to all Murcia and tourists who visit us, because these holidays, which are a tourist engine for the whole municipality, we also hope to reach historical figures in terms of number of visitors and hotel occupancy, with some initial forecasts above 65% occupancy, with full technical peaks in days like the Burial of the Sardine ".
Under the motto 'Murcia Renace', this 2019 is the 120th anniversary of this celebration that has two festivals of International Tourist Interest: the Bando de la Huerta and the Burial of the Sardine.
"We must claim with a healthy pride that we are from Murcia, that Murcia is the only place that is reborn each year in spring," said the mayor.
The Circular will become the "huertano epicenter of the city, through the monument 'Los Jardines del Rey Lobo', a large orchard in 360 degrees that will recreate the beauty of the gardens of Ibn Mardanis, prosperous king of Murcia and one of the The most outstanding figures of the Mediterranean political scene of the twelfth century.This floral monument will be presided by a large sculpture of 20 meters: a reproduction of the Castle of Monteagudo, "said José Ballesta.

The Murcian companies, sponsors of the festivities
During the presentation of the Spring Festival Program, which was attended by members of the municipal Corporation and the various festive groups, José Ballesta signed with the representatives of leading Murcian companies the collaboration agreement by which these companies sponsor the events that integrate the program and finance its celebration.
Programming: 250 events for all ages
The Spring Festival itself will last from Sunday 21 to Sunday 28 April.
However, this year the Program of events is extended with events until the beginning of June, that is, the public activity that the municipality will experience throughout the spring season, with more than 250 events in 150 different locations in the municipality.
Great petalada to the Fuensanta from the Cerdá House
The same day of the Bando de la Huerta, Tuesday 23, will take place, at 12.00, a large petalada to Our Lady the Virgin of Fuensanta from the Plaza de Santo Domingo (from the
building known as 'Casa Cerdá'), in which various representatives of the cultural, sporting and festive life of Murcia will participate.
La Morenica will be honored with the petals of more than 12,000 flowers that will be thrown from some balconies of the building, assigned for the occasion by the Baraka Group.
The Garden of the Giants
"The children live with special enthusiasm the Spring Festival and, therefore, we wanted them to occupy their own place in the main squares and gardens of the city, with activities specially designed for them, with which they can have fun and learn about our traditions and roots, enjoying these public spaces and making them their own, "said José Ballesta.
The City Council has defined a family area called the Garden of the Giants in El Salitre.
There will be a family area where you can enjoy many attractions every day, from 11 to 14 and from 16.30 to 21.30.
Flat rate of 8 euros for unlimited attractions throughout the day.
From April 12 to 28
One of the novelties of this year, are children's stories in English with Kids & Us, for children from 3 to 8 years, on days 22 and 24 at 11.30 and 12.30 (Alfonso X and Apostles).
The Homage to Meatloaf this year will take place on Wednesday, April 24, at the Artillery Barracks, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Barracas and Huertanos environments

Another novelty of the 2019 edition of the Spring Festival is the 'Talento Murciano' concert series, with the groups Farfet, David Andreu, Fran Ropero and Melo, which will perform at 13:00 on Monday 22 in Santo Domingo, 24 in Christ Resuscitated, 26 in Santa Catalina and 28 in Alfonso X, respectively.
