José Ballesta signs with the presidents of the Centers for Women the agreements with which the Municipal Corporation materially, technically and economically supports these spaces distributed in each of the neighborhoods and districts (15 in the urban area and 56 in the rest of the municipality) ).

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilor for Social Rights and Development Cooperation, Conchita Ruiz, today signed the agreements with the presidents of the Women's Centers of the municipality, aimed at the promotion and development of these public spaces, distributed in each of the neighborhoods and districts (15 in the urban area and 56 in the rest of the municipality).

José Ballesta stressed that "with this agreement, the Municipal Corporation supports and guarantees the daily and permanent activity carried out by more than 12,000 Murcian women in each of the 72 Women's Centers of the municipality, from the first that was created in Cabezo de Torres 1984, until the last one, which was constituted only two years ago, in 2017, in Cañadas de San Pedro ".

The objective of the agreements signed, which will be in force until December 31, 2020, is to regulate the relationship between the City Council and each of the 72 Associations of Women's Centers, favoring their daily activity in terms of training, equality of opportunities and associations.

The agreements regulate the material, technical and economic support that the City Council provides to these Centers.

Regarding equality of opportunities between men and women: with the assignment and use of the corresponding municipal premises and the necessary furniture;

technical support: of the professional staff for the development of the different activities, workshops and training courses;

and through an economic subsidy: to cover these programs of activities.

The amount of each grant will depend on the projects and activities presented by each Women's Center, the objectives pursued and the number of partners that receive these actions.

The aim is to favor, according to the text of the agreement, "the optimal development and execution of activities and programs aimed at the promotion and social welfare of women in the municipality of Murcia and the promotion of equal opportunities between women and men , as well as the prevention of gender violence ".
