The University of Murcia has presented the second edition of the book 'El Román de Flamenca' in an act that took place in the Faculty of Communication and Documentation of the Espinardo campus.
The presentation was made by the author of the translation and adaptation of the original medieval text, Jaime Covarsí, who explained that the book's history presents a medieval love triangle where the protagonist Flamenca, a young woman, is forced to marry a man higher.
She tries to escape from the slavery of medieval marriage through love with a young gentleman.
"The plot is a perfect excuse to present a germ of the future feminism, of the vindication of the freedom of the woman", has affirmed Covarsí.
The Vice Chancellor for Quality, Culture and Communication, Javier Martínez Méndez;
the coordinator of the Publications Service, Rosana López Carreño;
and the Vice Dean of Academic Organization of the Faculty of Communication and Documentation, Miguel Ángel Nicolás Ojeda.
'El Román de Flamenca' is the book that inspires the album 'El mal querer' by the singer Rosalía.
The interest in this medieval romance written in the Occitan language has increased since its relationship with the work of the singer was known.
The book was edited by Editum for the first time in 2007.
