Next Tuesday, March 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Jara Carrillo Plaza of the University of Murcia (UMU) will become a comic festival on the occasion of the Festival Week of the Faculty of Communication and Documentation (CDF).
A meeting in which attendees can learn the narrative potential of comics to transmit knowledge.
Set by the experimental music of Sigori, musical project of Thomas Alburquerque, this university plaza will overflow culture.
The touch of color will come from an informative activity that will be developed to commemorate the International Year of the Periodic Table.
"What we have done is a large-scale periodic table in which the 118 traditional chemical elements will be transformed into more than a hundred designs that collect comics distributed by themes, mainly related to the Arab world. the disseminator of the Unit of Scientific Culture (UCC + i) of the UMU Laura Serrano ", explains Delfina Roca, associate professor of Disclosure of the Faculty of Communication and Documentation of the UMU.
Among other activities, members of the group SIRA: comic and the Arab world (Pilar Garrido, Delfina Roca and Pedro Rojo) together with the doctor in Audiovisual Communication, professor and director of the UMU's Cómic Classroom, María Abellán, will give workshops to encourage to read and encourage the use of the graphic novel as an instrument of transcendent communication, as well as to favor the realistic perception of the situation of disadvantaged groups.
This festival is completed by a workshop to visualize the creative process in the hands of the illicit artist Álvaro Pascual, who will create live illustrations for his manga 'Áxel Rudy'.
In addition, members of the Colectivo Encuentros will announce fanzines and other graphic works.
The event will be covered by the radio program La Sesera and Canal UM.
This activity, which has been supported by the participatory budgets of the CDF, is organized by the SIRA group and the UCC + i of the UMU, and is celebrated within the framework of the II International Day of Comics and the Arab World: knowledge tool and intervention.
Likewise, the Al Fanar Foundation, the Aula del Cómic and the Faculty of Arts of the UMU have collaborated.
