3,657 kilos of waste have been collected today thanks to the Clean River Challenge, which has gathered more than a thousand volunteers committed to the common goal of enjoying a sustainable environment and raising awareness about the need to care for it.
On this occasion, the look has been placed outside the urban Segura, from which environment have been 497 kilos of paper, 590 kilos of packaging, 960 kilos of glass, 870 kilos of other waste and 740 kilos of bulky, between they, chairs, paint cans, tires, mattresses and a piece of shower.
The initiative is promoted by the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, directed by Rebeca Pérez, in collaboration with the concessionaire Ferrovial Servicios and the Murcia Region Clean association, and in which different associations and volunteers have participated.

The participants have carried out the cleaning action in skates, by boat or by walking, each group occupying the sectors in which the river mote is divided from the garden of the Four Stones to the footbridge of Manterola and from La Fica to the treatment plant of Llano de Brujas.
At 13:00 hours the children's activities with Drilo and Lili have begun, they teach recycling, a musical performance by Bosco and free tasting of paella.

Cleaning has been carried out along both banks of the riverbed, organized by groups of 15 volunteers guided by a person in charge, who has previously been trained in environmental care, recycling in the municipality of Murcia and organization of teams.
The person in charge of each team has been in charge of writing down the waste that has been collected to measure the quantities and recycling it according to the material.
A kit has been delivered with bags of the four colors of recycling, cap, badge, gloves, bracelet and water bottle.
The cleaning has also been carried out from the river, with the collaboration of 'Tío de la Barca', who has made available to the event 10 boats.
In addition, the Department of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development has supported some tasks of clearing and pruning of trees prior to the event.
Also from the Department of Traffic and Public Safety through Fire and Civil Protection has made available a preventive catch of the river with a boat.
This initiative has had the association Patinar in Murcia who have been responsible for the logistical support for what the volunteers may need along the entire route.
Estrella Levante and Animal Sound, who have collaborated in the realization of the event, have also been present.
From Murcia Clean is intended to promote the idea that citizens combine physical exercise with waste collection as is done in other cities around the world.
