The University of Murcia and the General Union of Workers (UGT) have signed on Thursday a general protocol of action that will allow the teaching institution and the union to collaborate in training activities, research and knowledge transfer in the areas of common interest;
especially in relation to labor relations.
The rector, José Luján;
the general secretary of UGT Region of Murcia, Antonio Jiménez;
and Pepe Álvarez, general secretary of UGT, have signed this agreement, the first signed by both institutions.
"This agreement is the first, worse is the result of a long tradition of close collaboration between the University of Murcia and the UGT, which is now formalized and reinforced," said the rector, who has highlighted the importance of establishing partnerships with "an organization that represents part of the 4,000 workers of the University of Murcia".
Luján has highlighted in a special way that one of the areas of work that will come out of this agreement will be training to highlight the social function of unions: "We must insist on the fundamental value that unions have in the defense of society , as a core element of the development of the Rule of Law ".
Antonio Jiménez, for his part, has emphasized the importance of the concrete actions that will allow this protocol to be carried out.
Especially highlighted those that have to do with the training of students in knowledge about labor rights and labor market.
On the other hand, Pepe Álvarez has valued the fact that the signed document already establishes concrete actions of collaboration and has advanced that UGT will count on the University of Murcia for the collaboration in investigations related to labor relations.
