The University of Murcia is located in the range 101-200 within the university impact ranking 2019 prepared by THE University Impact Rankings, in which 1,258 universities from around the world participate.

This good result is based on the scaled performance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals the institution is making.

Especially noteworthy are the positions obtained in objective 3, aimed at guaranteeing a healthy life and promotion of well-being for all ages (position 43);

objective 4, which aims to achieve quality education (the UMU is in the range 101-200);

and goal 5 of respect for gender equality (position 78).

This new university impact ranking is a pioneering initiative by THE (Times Higuer Education) to recognize universities around the world for their social and economic impact.

It is based on the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations Organization.

1,258 universities from all over the world form part of it, of which 18 are Spanish.

The University of Murcia, in its commitment to the SDGs, develops an ambitious project of awareness and impact on the 17 objectives within the university sphere, with the aim of contributing to the advancement of the 2030 Agenda. This project, called 17 ODSesiones, began the last month of February and will last two academic years, in which the different groups of the UMU will participate in all kinds of activities, talks, meetings, conferences and discussion forums around the different challenges and goals posed by the SDGs, in close collaboration with NGOs, companies, public administrations and experts and researchers.
