The objective of this activity is to register the different species of vertebrates, invertebrates and plants of the Espinardo campus
The University of Murcia, through the BioGID innovation group of the Faculty of Biology, organizes the first BioBlitz day 'Marathon of biodiversity: discover and investigate your campus', which will take place on April 5 and 6 at the Faculty of Biology of the Espinardo campus.
A Bioblitz is a participatory citizen science event whose objective is to inspect a specific territory to inventory its biodiversity and register as many species as possible during a continuous period of time.
It is an effective way to connect the public with the environment while generating useful data for science and conservation.
Specifically, this biodiversity marathon of the University of Murcia will have the participation of experts in various disciplines related to the groups of living beings to study in the study area of the Espinardo campus, which will be accompanied by students of the Faculty of Biology.
The activities include workshops on terrestrial invertebrates and vertebrates, as well as plants, which will allow attendees to learn different techniques to know the biodiversity of the study area.
In addition, these workshops will be complemented by other activities, including a photographic exhibition on biodiversity, a film forum and a visit to the José Loustau museum.
The main objectives of this day are, on the one hand, to favor the interactions between researchers and students of the Faculty of Biology and, on the other hand, to carry out the first inventory of biodiversity on the Espinardo campus.
