The University Institute of Research in Aging of the University of Murcia (UMU) has hosted on Tuesday the act by which fourteen entities have joined the Circle of the Elderly and Disability, a forum created as a collaboration agreement between the University and the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities.
The main objective of the Circle is to promote research and innovation, as well as alliances between social and economic sectors in order to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities in their aging.
It is the first circle on this matter at the national level.
The act of adhesion was attended by Paloma Sobrado, vice-rector of Coordination and Welfare Services, and the counselor of Family and Equality of Opportunities, Violante Tomás;
as well as with the professor in Anatomy and director of the University Institute for Research in Aging, Trinidad Herrero;
and representatives of the signatory entities.
The Circle of Elderly and Disability aims to establish greater collaboration among social agents and unite the public and private sectors in the search for solutions that improve the quality of life of people with disabilities in their aging.
Inclusion, visibility of their situation and active participation in society are other aspects that can be developed from this forum.
The Autonomous Community is part of this Circle, representatives of knowledge generating centers, Universities, Research Centers, Companies, Social Organizations and Regional and Local Administration.
At the ceremony held on Tuesday they have signed their accession: Cermi, Mental Health Federation (Afes), Afemy, Asofem, Fasen, Fadis, Asprodes Ampy, Fundown, Full Inclusion, New Foundation Los Albares, University Institute of Research in Aging and the European Coalition of innovation for active and healthy aging Region of Murcia.
