The agreement also allows the CARM to be added to the actions that the University develops in the project 17 ODS sesiones
The University of Murcia and the Autonomous Community have signed on Tuesday a collaboration protocol that will allow the realization of knowledge transfer, training and outreach activities around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the UN 2030 Agenda .
The rector, José Luján, and the counselor of the Presidency, Pedro Rivera, have signed this agreement in an act that took place in the Convalecencia, seat of the rectorship.
Longinos Marín, delegate of the rector for Social Responsibility and Transparency, explained that this protocol will allow the University of Murcia to carry out studies and research in the field of promoting SDGs in the Region.
Specifically, the UMU will open lines of research that will make a diagnosis of the regional economy in terms of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda by economic sectors, will study the strengths that the Region has in the implementation of the ODS and, among other actions , a joint development cooperation plan will be proposed.
The protocol will also allow the University and the Community to work together to promote the 17 ODS sessions with which the UMU will disseminate and raise awareness of the UN SDGs through a complete program of activities until April 2021. "For the University it is a pride that the Community wants to set this protocol, which attests to the value of our research groups and also the potential of the UMU to lead this type of projects in the Region ", said Marín.
The rector assured that "at the University of Murcia we believe in the 2030 Agenda and we are obsessed with this challenge." With this agreement we signed today, we give shape to the UN Goal 17, dedicated to alliances to achieve the objectives.
The Minister of the Presidency, meanwhile, has valued the work that the University of Murcia does to disseminate the SDGs through the ODSesiones program and has emphasized the importance "of the gift that the UN General Assembly gave us in September 2015 to improve the planet "and the commitment of the Community to its development.
