The sports family of the UCAM was very present at the National Sports Gala held in La Nucía (Alicante).
The awards, given by the Spanish Sports Press Association, recognize the best of 2018 and the sporting careers of some of the legends of Spanish sport, with a special role in this edition for women who opened the way and who were the first great Spanish champions in the international scene.
Among the athletes UCAM were awarded Ana Carrasco, the world champion of Superbikes who received the award from José Luis Mendoza, president of the Catholic University.
The karatekas Damián Quintero and Sandra Sánchez and the marcher María Pérez received their well-deserved award.
The swimmer Teresa Perales picked up the award on behalf of all the Spanish Paralympic swimmers who continue to obtain great international results.
Also worth noting the award for the Murcia Alejandro Valverde, with which the UCAM collaborates in their base teams 'Valverde Team'.
In the section of tribute to the great Spanish athletes we must highlight the Olympic champion Ruth Beitia, who remains linked to our university after his retirement.
