We talk about Human capital '|
The University of Murcia has inaugurated on Monday the 'UMU LA CAIXA work breakfasts.
We speak of Human Capital ', a forum that has the support of Obra Social La Caixa and that will meet periodically to companies and institutions to address the trends and needs of companies in terms of human resources.
The first of these breakfasts was held in Convalecencia, the seat of the rectorship, and has had as a central theme of reflection 'University and Business: opportunities for employment'.
Together with the University of Murcia and Caixabank, representatives of large companies and institutions of the Region of Murcia have participated in this working group.
Alicia Rubio, vice-chancellor of Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society, explained that these working groups that are now beginning "are going to focus on two issues essentially: on the one hand, it is about knowing the opinion of companies about what students need to join the labor market and do not currently have, and on the other hand, we want to know the demands of employment that companies have and know what our students will face when they leave ".
In this sense, Juan Ignacio Zafra, territorial director of Caixabank, has pointed out that one of the qualities that companies seek in their future employees "is that they have an open mind and the ability to adapt to the needs of a market that changes at high speed "
Zafra has stressed the importance of this forum to bring the university closer to the company, achieve growth in transfer and enhance the entrepreneurial restlessness of students.
In this first breakfast were present Andamur, Auxiliary Conservera, Global Paris, Juan José Albarracín, Muñoz Gálvez Distilleries, Golosinas Fini, Grupo Fuertes, Liwe Española, Queen Desserts, CROEM and Chamber of Commerce.
The University-Business connection has been one of the issues addressed in the meeting and the conclusion reached is that it is necessary to increase interaction and define communication channels, especially in relation to practices and the channeling of job offers to graduates .
Entrepreneurs have agreed that the training of university students should incorporate, in addition to theoretical knowledge, training in transversal skills related to negotiation skills, leadership, communication and social skills, among others.
Representatives of companies and business organizations have also expressed the importance of students receiving training that allows them to adapt to the digital transformation of the labor market.
With regard to languages, they have stated that not only is English proficiency important, but knowledge of other languages, such as Chinese or German, can also be very relevant for the labor insertion of students.
Another issue that the participants have made clear is that companies look for workers with a proactive attitude and with values for working with people.
In addition, they consider that it is important that future university students know, before choosing studies, the dynamics of the market and career options that have the different degrees offered by the University, to know what they will find when they finish.
In this sense, they have recognized the work carried out by the UMU Employment Information and Orientation Center (COIE), both in the orientation of the professional career and in its role as a link with companies.
The Vice Chancellor for Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society, Alicia Rubio, has detailed to the companies and institutions present in this forum the measures that the University of Murcia has put in place and that are aimed at improving communication with companies, as well as plans of action with the main business organizations and actions for the promotion of entrepreneurial spirit and business culture.
In addition, the vice-chancellor has announced that the creation of a platform that allows companies to channel their demands is planned.
