The City of Murcia, through the Youth Service directed by Rebeca Pérez, carries out a European volunteer project, within the Erasmus + program, as a tool for the social inclusion of young people with visual disabilities.
The project 'European volunteering, a tool for the social inclusion of young people with visual disabilities', was created by the European Projects and Exchange Program of the Youth Service of the City of Murcia, directed by Rebeca Pérez, together with the organizations VIEWS de Belgium and Polski Zwiazek Niewidomych of Poland.
This program is funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus + program.
It began on October 15 with the arrival of two new volunteers: Kamila (Poland) and Jérôme (Belgium), who will be in Spain until April 15.
The objective is to raise awareness about the multiple benefits of social inclusion through European programs, about the importance of taking advantage of the potential of young people with disabilities and about the way in which the whole society benefits from their participation.
"These young people are in our municipality developing various activities, whose main objective is the dissemination of European projects and volunteering among young people with disabilities, thus promoting their participation and inclusion in our society and are themselves that they design and plan the campaign of diffusion of the volunteering "has highlighted Rebeca Pérez.
In this way, the volunteers themselves and the young people of Murcia associations and collectives have explained what their activity consists of and have explained the materials that have been created for this purpose.
Likewise, a video summary of the project has been projected and three adapted brochures have been presented: 'Do you want to be a volunteer in Europe?', 'Projects of solidarity, practices and work in the European Solidarity Body' and 'My profile in the Body European Solidarity '.
The Guide of the European Solidarity Body and 'My profile in the European Solidarity Body' are adapted for people with visual disabilities and printed in Braille, with the collaboration of the ONCE.
