On Thursday, March 28 will be held in Murcia the 'I Conference of Endometriosis: challenges and perspectives'.
The day is organized by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Murcia (UMU) on the occasion of the celebration of the World Day of Endometriosis.
The days are free and have limited places, so it is necessary to register for the activity through: https://casiopea.um.es/endometriosisretosi.f
The program is divided into two parts.
In the first, it is intended to show research as a fundamental tool to be able to advance in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and bring them closer to society.
During these days, visits will be made to the research laboratories of the IMM / IMIB Immunology group and the general services of the University of Murcia on the Palmar campus.
There, some of the techniques will be explained and the resources available for conducting research on endometriosis will be shown.
In the second, there will be a round table where patients, health professionals and researchers will discuss the current challenges posed by endometriosis, as well as the future perspectives to be able to move forward.
Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that despite having a high incidence in the population (affects 10% of women of childbearing age) is very little known.
There is little specialized training and comprehensive care units in the healthcare environment, which makes early diagnosis difficult.
This generates additional emotional and social difficulties to those affected.
The research results are insufficient since the current diagnostic methods are aggressive and the treatments available are not very effective. This project aims to inform society and train both health professionals and university students of the biosanitary branches in endometriosis. .
Its orientation is, therefore, social, health, academic and research.
