The MasterChem project, which seeks to encourage scientific vocations among the youngest, has allowed both participants and the public to enjoy this innovative initiative launched by the Scientific Culture Unit of the University of Murcia (UMU).
The magic of science has flooded the La Merced campus of the UMU thanks to the enthusiasm of all those involved in the project.
The spectators, attentive, have observed children and adolescents become authentic scientists before the challenge of successfully finishing their test.
While the contestants were dealing with the nervousness of working with products they did not know until previous moments, attendees enjoyed the vibrant live final.

An innovative project to promote chemistry
MasterChem, after an extraordinary welcome in its first phase with 250 participants from all over the region, has put an end to its first edition where the finalist groups have shown that they are the best amateur chemists.
Weeks before this grand finale took place the Chemistry Fair, where all the participants of the contest shared their experiments with the audience at the Faculty of Chemistry of the UMU.
It is a project of the Scientific Culture Unit of the University of Murcia with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
In addition, it has the help of other entities in the Region such as the Academy of Sciences of the Region of Murcia, the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ), both nationally and regionally;
the Faculty of Chemistry, companies such as Tecnoquim or Aquadeus.
