The Unit of Scientific Culture (UCC) of the University of Murcia (UMU) continues with its cycle of conferences in the Cultural Area Room of El Corte Inglés.
On Monday, March 25, the presentation entitled 'The protection of personal data in an interconnected world: the latent tension between law and technological innovation' given by Julián Valero Torrijos, Professor of Administrative Law at the University of Murcia, at 19:00 : 30h
Through the exhibition, the professor seeks to resolve issues related to Information and Communication Technologies and their impact on our private lives.
Currently it is unthinkable not to have a mobile device to communicate, as well as having access to various contents and services.
In the same way, it is more common to use terms such as smart cities, big data, the internet of things or artificial intelligence.
However, the greater access to new technologies and services, also brings with it a greater handling of our personal data and, therefore, a greater incidence on our fundamental rights and freedoms.
The rapporteur will present the existing legal guarantees and how the law can respond to this challenge.
Are our data safe with the current regulation?
What has the European Regulation that came into force last year?
Why a new Data Protection Law with a catalog of digital rights?
What claim ways exist?
Professor Julián Valero Torrijos is the coordinator of iDerTec-Innovation, Law and Technology Research Group;
