The Academy of Performing Arts of Spain, with the support of the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM) has published volume I of the trilogy 'History of contemporary dance in Spain.
From the last years of the dictatorship until 1992 '.
The book was presented this morning in Murcia, after doing it in Madrid and Valencia, by the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco;
César Oliva, member of the Board of Directors of the Academy, director of the Romea Theater and the Circus Theater of Murcia;
Margarita Muñoz Zielinski, academic, choreographer and historian of dance;
Georgina Cayuela Vera, author of the book and teacher of the School of Dance and Music Camargo, and Tania Herrero Martínez, author and professor at the Higher Conservatory of Dance of Murcia.
This initiative has been coordinated by the 2nd vice president of the Rosángeles Valls Academy, the academic Alicia Soto and the academic Carmen Giménez Morte, who has also taken charge of the edition.
In addition, the Murcia Margarita Muñoz Zielinski and Tania Herrero collaborated.
The history of dance in Spain throughout the twentieth century has been conditioned by the political and social framework.
In order to try to keep the memory of these years up to the present, the publication proposes a chronological presentation taking into account decisive historical events to divide the stages that correspond with this trilogy.
This first volume hosts the last years of the Franco regime until 1992, a year considered a turning point in which the international outlook towards Spain is highlighted by the Olympics in Barcelona and the Expo in Seville.
In this publication, different expert authors in the discipline of dance have participated from the professional approaches of practice, teaching, theory, research and dissemination.
Academics Rosángeles Valls, Carmen Giménez Morte, Ana Isabel Elvira Esteban, Laura Kumin, Cristina de Lucas and Mercedes L. Caballero.
The academics Guillermo Heras Toledo, Cesc Gelabert Uslé and Toni Pastor Borrás.

The text is illustrated with photographs of the shows coming from the archives of the collaborating entities and personal collections of the choreographers and dancers.
The second volume is characterized by the generational change of the companies that grow in the autonomous communities and develop thanks to dance support plans.
It would cover from 1992 until the economic crisis of 2008 and is characterized by the renewal of the first generation of independent companies.
The third volume will be devoted to contemporary dance in Spain since 2008, a period in which the global economic crisis has conditioned the scenic sector and, possibly, is defined by internationalization, interdisciplinarity and the dissolution of the boundaries between artistic genres, which They try to bring the dance of today to society.
