More than 500 people gathered last night at the Mesón la Torre de Bacons Bridge to attend the election of the Queen and Ladies of the Social Centers for the Elderly 2019.

The lucky one was María del Carmen Ríos García, from the Senior Center of El Puntal (third from the right), who was distinguished with the band of honor by the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and crowned by outgoing Queen, Julia Sánchez Abellán .

Their Ladies were the following: Carmen Vivancos, of San Basilio;

Encarnación Vicente, from Santiago and Zaraiche;

Mari Ángeles Avilés, from Llano de Brujas;

Mª Eugenia Romero, from Vistalegre.

"With this evening we celebrate the joy, vitality and generosity of the Murcian woman," said José Ballesta in his speech, who was accompanied by Councilors Conchita Ruiz and Maruja Pelegrín, the Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, the deputy María Dolores Bolarín, and the president of the Federation of Elders of the Municipality of Murcia, Simón Párraga.
