Murcia becomes the national headquarters for gardening in 2020 (16/03/2019)

The presentation of the National Congress of Parks and Public Gardens 2020 will take place next week in Santander where Murcia will show its project as the site of gardening for next year

Murcia will host the National Congress of Parks and Public Gardens PARJAP on April 22, 23 and 24, 2020. This event will attract more than 400 of the most important national and international experts in parks and gardens and 5,000 visitors.

The presentation of the National Congress of Public Parks and Gardens will take place next week, from 20 to 23 March, in Santander where Murcia will show all of Spain its project as the site of gardening for next year.

Councilman José Guillén stressed that "the city of Murcia is today a reference in gardening at the national level, few cities like ours can show live and emblematic projects of city transformation, tourism boost, environmental and urban regeneration, putting value on its heritage, regeneration of its river and promotion of urban green infrastructures such as Murcia River, Vía Verde or Jardines de Primavera.In addition to the Shadow Plan projects, bike lanes or urban gardens, the city has multiple parks and gardens in the to be able to make unique technical visits and of special interest such as the Floridablanca Garden, declared a Cultural Interest in the Historic Garden category in 2017 for being the first public garden in our country, or the Botanical Garden and the Paseo del Malecon, BIC since 1982. These projects, with Murcia Río in the lead, are the beginning of a path towards a greener future, mixing tradition and progress through the recreation of landscapes of the orchard and the forests that grow in this municipality.

Murcia: river, sun and gardens

The choice of Murcia for a new appointment of the PARJAP reflects the attraction capacity of the city for this type of meetings and the leadership exercised in urban gardening at national level.

Murcia and the Spanish Association of Parks and Public Gardens (PARJAP) are members of the Word Urban Parks, the most representative international organization of urban parks, public space and the recreational sector.

In addition, the new edition will highlight the tourist, hotel and communications infrastructure of the city, as well as the media and professionals of the congress sector.

The activity will focus on the more than 3,000 parks and gardens in the metropolitan area and the 55 districts that make up almost 900 km2 of the municipality of Murcia.

With more than 117,000 trees and more than 15,000 units of equipment, Murcia is ready to enjoy the outdoors, and to enjoy the experts from all over Spain.

After the success that Murcia had organizing this congress of the AEPJP in 1998, in addition to the experience of the Department of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development in the organization of major events, it is intended to return to host, 22 years later, this day in the Victor Villegas Auditorium and Congress Center.

The National Congress of Parks and Gardens 2020 will be presented in Santander and on Friday 22 will be the day on which Murcia presents and exhibits the PARJAP 2020 with the presence of town councils and representatives of gardening throughout Spain.
