The City Council recognizes the work of local police officers and their service to the city on the day of St. Patrick with the delivery of decorations in the Plaza Belluga.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the councilor of Traffic, Security and Citizen Protection, Lola Sanchez, and public authorities, today made delivery of the distinctions to the Local Police, on the occasion of the celebration of the acts of Saint Patrick, Patron of the body.
The mayor said that "next April 1 will be 567 years since the Council of Murcia in solemn session presided over by the Corregidor D. Diego Ribera agreed to appoint patron of Murcia to St. Patrick in gratitude for the victory in the Battle of the Alporchones.

"Murcia is one of the safest cities in Spain and it is here, the Local Police Force of Murcia, where all of you are the absolute protagonists of this celebration and it must be understood as a public recognition of the excellence of your work and to the sacrifice of their effort, "the mayor addressed the agents.
Throughout 2018, the local police handled 199,568 calls, 40,000 more than in 2017 and 65,000 more than in 2015. The actions of the guardians police, neighborhood police, community police and ecological patrol have multiplied.
New services have been incorporated, such as the tourist police and the leisure police.
The family care and protection team has deployed its discreet and effective work against gender violence and help for minors.

Decorations and Homage to the Fallen

Authorities awarded a Public Personal Congratulation to 33 active Local Police officers and distinguished with the Local Police Insignia 54 retired agents in the last year.
After the delivery of the badges was carried out the act of Tribute to the Fallen in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga.
