The Faculty of Biology of the University of Murcia hosts the exhibition 'Entre Científicas', a show organized by the Seneca Foundation that aims to make visible the role and contribution of women to science through the work of prestigious scientists who lead the advance in important areas of knowledge.
As a result of a project of the regional research agency, the aim of the exhibition is to inspire as many young people as possible to develop their talent in classrooms, laboratories and companies, as well as to participate in a leadership traditionally attributed to male gender.
While it is true that the number of women scientists has increased significantly in recent years, it is still necessary to claim a greater presence among teaching and research staff.
The exhibition includes portraits of 34 prestigious scientists, including the Honorary Doctors of the UMU Margarita Salas and María Blasco, along with a brief biographical review of each of them.
The portraits have been created by the artist Katarzyna Rogowicz.
The exhibition can be visited until March 22 at the Faculty of Biology and is scheduled to be transferred to the Faculty of Law on dates yet to be determined.
The presentation of this exhibition was attended by the Vice Chancellor for Quality, Culture and Communication, Francisco Javier Martínez Méndez;
accompanied by part of the decanal team of the faculty;
the General Director of Universities and Research, Juan Monzó Cabrera;
and the Director of the Séneca Foundation, Antonio González Valverde.
