The City Council and the Autonomous Community strengthen the collaboration initiated in 2017 to make effective the provision of home help service to dependent persons in the municipality of Murcia, allowing the expansion of current coverage and the progressive development of the service.
With this objective, the Governing Board has approved the agreement with the Autonomous Community, through the Murcia Institute of Social Action, which will be valid for two years, from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2021, with a total contribution by the Murciano Institute of Social Action of € 2,922,096.
Of the 2,127 people who use this service, 1,923 receive home care from the City Council and 204 through this agreement, which benefits dependents derived from the Institute Murciano Social Action and have recognized the degree of dependence and they present a situation of dependency with a degree recognized as other profiles in situations of social vulnerability that are served by the municipal system.
The agreement between both administrations has an estimate of hours of service that will exceed 250,000 for the entire period, which is equivalent to more than 10,400 monthly hours between home care and personal care services.
This service is constituted by the set of actions carried out in the domicile of people in a situation of dependency in order to meet the needs of daily life and increase their autonomy, making possible the permanence in it.
The actions that will be carried out will be the following:
- Services related to personal attention aimed at promoting and maintaining personal autonomy of the beneficiary, to encourage appropriate habits and to acquire basic skills in carrying out activities of daily living.
- Services related to the care of the domestic or household needs: cleaning, washing, cooking or others.
These services can only be provided jointly with those indicated in the previous section.
The City of Murcia will continue to provide the service through the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation with the means available to it and the supervision of municipal technicians, in coordination with the technicians of the Murciano Institute of Social Action.
In this way the collaboration between the Autonomous and Local Administration initiated last year 2017, with the signing of the first collaboration agreement, is strengthened, to make effective the service of Home Help to dependents in the municipality of Murcia, allowing the expansion of current coverage and the progressive development of the service.
The City of Murcia annually allocates the amount of 5.5 million euros to the provision of this service that has been in operation for more than three decades.
