The Councilor for Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, Rebeca Pérez, has responded to Ahora Murcia that "transparency has been a fundamental axis in the Old Prison project" and reminded them that "the project is the one selected in a competition organized effect with the participation of the schools of architects and surveyors, municipal architects and of the University of Murcia and municipal technicians ".
"As always in Now Murcia contradict, on the one hand, they criticize that the project is delayed but, on the other hand, they torpedo it and put stones so that it does not go ahead." In October of 2017 the jury agreed that 'Ethereal Walls' was the project winner but now, when they are about to be awarded the works, they put him in. Maybe their only interest is that our municipality does not move forward, "Pérez said.
The councilor explained that the project "has been very conservative with the structure of the building and most of the elements are kept in. The wall of the façade is of masonry and will be recreated with permeable elements, maintaining a large part of the perimeter wall".
Perez went on to say that "the watch towers and an important part of the perimeter walls are to be maintained both in the back and the outer northeast perimeter wall, and in the rest of the perimeter will be installed a latticework of variable-spaced metal profiles" .
"This action seeks the total permeability of the courtyards with the city, a greater sense of spaciousness in the urban environment and reveal the building to the citizen," the councilor concluded.
