The City of Murcia, through the Department of Education, Heritage and Relations with Universities that directs Rafael Gómez, has opened during the last three and a half years, 8 new study rooms in the municipality, has also carried out various educational programs , among which My city teaches, a program dedicated to the realization of activities for schoolchildren of the municipality of Murcia of Infant, Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate offered within the programs of the Education Area.
The 8 new study rooms are added to the existing and make a total of 11 distributed throughout the municipality, in which 5,694 users are registered and study in these spaces.
Of these rooms, six are open 24 hours (SME Alquerías, SME Los Dolores, SME Ronda Sur, SME Sangonera la Seca, SME Sangonera la Verde, SME & Asociación Jóvenes Torreagüera).
The other five rooms have a specific schedule in Cultural Centers (SME Cobatillas, SME Los Martínez del Puerto, SME Rincón de Seca, SME Monteagudo, SME Santo Ángel).
In these years, the halls of Alquerías, Sangonera la Verde, Sangonera la Seca, Los Dolores, Torreagüera, Los Martínez del Puerto, Rincón de Seca and Ronda Sur, one of the largest in Spain, have been opened.
Also, there are 8 new rooms planned to be opened in the coming months in Aljucer, El Raal, Garres and Lages, Llano de Brujas, Espinardo, San José de la Vega, Zeneta and Casillas.

Nearly 75,500 children participate in educational programs
This program is offered to 186 educational centers of the municipality, of which 124 correspond to districts and 62 to the urban area, with a school population of 75,490 students from 3 to 18 years old.
For this course, 97 activities have been offered, aimed at children, primary, secondary and high school.
The themes are performing arts, knowing services, making citizenship and scientific, natural, traditional and historical heritage.
Its objective is to offer the educational centers of the municipality of Murcia resources and instruments for the knowledge and interpretation of their environment.
Activities and support materials that contribute to knowledge of heritage and its conservation are also developed.
Murcia thus becomes an educating city.
This project is considered as a didactic resource that involves both municipal spaces and public and private entities and groups, with which the different activities are organized so that students and students complete their knowledge, know their local heritage (historical-artistic, scientific , natural and traditional) and learn to value it.
