The Youth Service of the City of Murcia, through the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, conducts psychosocial counseling for young people.
This morning, councilor Rebeca Pérez and psychologist Ana Sánchez, associate professor at the University of Murcia, presented a report on psychosocial counseling for young people.
This service allows advice and guidance, anonymously and free of charge, to young people between 16 and 30 years old, in order to offer them information on psychosocial, affective and sexual matters.
In the last three and a half years, more than 4,000 young people have been informed and advised.
More than 300 users have been attended in person in the Informajoven service, 3,500 have participated in training sessions and almost 300 emails have been answered with personal questions.
The most frequent questions have been about identity of gender and sexual identity, affective-sexual education, addictions, family conflicts and about managing anxiety crisis.
Based on this experience, the City of Murcia, in collaboration with various councilors, has carried out various campaigns aimed at young people to inform and educate them on the issues that concern them, some of them have been "Do not bite the hook" against gambling addiction, the 'Whatsapp friend' through the Local Council of Youth, 'I guarantee youth', 'I want to control you, I want to watch you' or 'Say no to drugs', among others.
"During these years we have reinforced Psychosocial Counseling, since we believe that it is fundamental to make young people aware of the importance of learning and educating themselves about the issues that concern them the most, this service is completely free and confidential and they have the possibility of accessing it. In person or from a distance, Informajoven also carried out various awareness and training campaigns in youth, educational and cultural centers to reach all young people directly, "said Rebeca Pérez.
Young people can access face-to-face attention at the Informajoven Center or through telephone or email asexjoven@ayto-murcia.es.
The days of psychosocial attention are on Tuesdays, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on Wednesdays (with prior appointment), at the same time.
The Psychosexual Training Programs are also carried out in Secondary Education Centers (1st and 2nd Baccalaureate), Youth Associations and Cultural Centers.
The subjects on which they treat are self-esteem and body image, communication and social skills, affective-sexual education and prevention of pregnancies in young people.
The information is intended for young people, parents, mothers and professionals
The objectives are to guide, advise and respond to the current needs of young people, in a personalized way, to provide an informative and educational service to analyze and facilitate decision-making in the adolescent stage.
It also trains associations, professionals, organizations and institutions that work with young people.
In addition to advice on social skills, conflict resolution, social integration, participation, volunteering, couple relationships or disease prevention, young people are also informed about healthy habits for the prevention of addictions and proper use of new technologies and social networks .
