When the current building of the Faculty of Communication and Documentation of the University of Murcia was born, 20 years ago now, nobody could have guessed that this center, where only 300 students were studying, would multiply its strength by a factor of four, reaching a figure of 1300 Today, the plaza of journalist Jara Carrillo (director of the former newspaper El Liberal and one of the sponsors of the University of Murcia), has become the main space of coexistence for all those students, a place where they rest, stroll and hundreds of these students and teachers of the faculty talk between class and class.
In this way, the initiative of imbricating two Educational Innovation Projects that provides a project to around eighty students from both universities is a providential one with the purpose of promoting and making architectural proposals of places of coexistence for that space of the University of Murcia.
Some fifty students of the fifth year of Architecture of the UPCT will work together with some thirty third-year students of Advertising of the UMU, coordinated by three professors from the University of Cartagena and as many from the University of Murcia.
The Dean of the faculty of the University of Murcia Pedro Hellín Ortuño and the professor of Cartagena Ricardo Carcelén González are the coordinators of the initiative.
Both groups have coincided this morning in the Faculty of Communication and Documentation to share ideas and know the place where the winning performance will be located.
It will be next June, in the lobby of this center, where all the projects are presented, the organizers hope that at least a dozen will be presented, that they will be put to a popular vote to make this place a place of coexistence .
