The professor of Mathematical Analysis of the University of Murcia José Orihuela Catalayud, will be in charge of inaugurating the course of the Academy of Sciences of the Region of Murcia (ACCRM) next Monday, February 25, with the conference 'Adjusting risk and uncertainty'.
In this event, which will take place in the Culture Hall of the CajaMurcia Foundation (Gran Vía del sculptor Salzillo, 23) from 7.30 pm, the president of the ACCRM, Juan Carmelo Gómez, will review the activities that the Academia has organized during 2018. A year full of scientific dissemination events that ended in style with the conference 'A country of knowledge and innovation', given by Pedro Duque, astronaut and current Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities.
After the presentation of the annual report, Orihuela Calatayud will speak on the role of mathematicians and physicists in the world of finance and will analyze "the misuse of mathematical formulas on Wall Street that pushed us from 2007 to the crisis of subprime mortgages, the fall of Lehman Brothers and a global financial bankruptcy that devastated us. "
The act will be open to the public until the capacity is completed.
