The Minister of Family and Equality of Opportunities, Violante Tomás, opened today the new Day Center for the Elderly 'Mimo' where the Community has arranged 10 places for an investment of 80,000 euros during this year.
Tomás stressed the importance of the elderly having the support of a psychologist who directs the activities aimed at stabilizing the situation of cognitive impairment that some of them have, and that there is also a physiotherapy service to treat the mobility problems of the users of this day center.
The Day Center 'Mimo' also has workshops gerontogimnasia, crafts and cinefórum twice a week, the latter is the activity most in demand.
All of them are aimed at improving the quality of life of users and promoting active aging.
In total, the Community has arranged 4,470 places for elderly people in day centers and residences, of which 981 have been created this term.
