The Forensic Toxicology and Veterinary Service of the University of Murcia (UMU), in collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, organizes the 'Technical Session of Toxicology Laboratories against Poison in the Natural Environment' on Thursday, February 21, from 9 am to 2 pm The Magna Room of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
In the event will participate the national leaders of reference laboratories in the fight against this ecological problem.
Likewise, round tables will be established with the intervention of forensic experts and veterinarians from wildlife recovery centers.
It is an initiative of the network of toxicology laboratories in Spain, being the University of Murcia the oldest of all (1992).
Its director, Antonio Juan García Fernández, emphasizes that: "The objective is to share experiences to publicize the serious negative consequences that the poison has on biodiversity, together with the legal and ethical implications".
The event has the support of the Spanish Association of Toxicology.
Emma Martínez López, sub-director of the UMU service and secretary of the association, specifies that: "The day will be open to the public in the morning, and will continue in the afternoon until Friday morning with restricted meetings of experts. a proposal for joint actions at European level ".
In this struggle, governments at European, national, autonomous and local levels are involved;
state security forces, with special relevance the Service of Protection of Nature (Seprona);
the technicians of the public administrations, in particular the environmental agents that participate in the collection of corpses and baits of the environment;
Veterinarians specializing in wildlife and forensic science;
as well as the managers of the autonomous communities.
