The University of Murcia and the Down Syndrome Foundation of the Region of Murcia (Fundown) organize the volunteer days 'Shared housing with People with Intellectual Disability', which will take place on 19 and 20 February in the building's auditorium Luis Vives of the Espinardo Campus.
The inauguration will take place this Tuesday, February 19, at 4:30 p.m. and will include the presence, among others, of María Cristina Sánchez López, Vice Chancellor of Students of the UMU;
and Pedro Martínez López, manager of Fundown.
The UMU has collaborated with Fundown for several years so that university students actively participate in the development of a new training model aimed at achieving the highest degree of autonomy and independence possible for the group of people with intellectual disabilities.
Among the volunteer work that university students can do is to share a home with people with intellectual disability or Down syndrome thanks to a scholarship that covers the cost of accommodation, food and nutrition.
The ultimate goal of these conferences is to bring UMU students closer to this reality that will allow them to experience a very enriching learning experience.
