The Councilor for Education, Heritage and Relations with Universities, Rafael Gómez, has signed an agreement with the Rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, for Murcia schoolchildren of the first cycle of primary education visit the aquarium of this institution, located in the Artillery Barracks, and collaborate, in addition to the proper functioning of the facilities.
"During the 2018/19 academic year the aquarium has programmed 19 days for school visits to Murcia, which means more than 1,400 students who can visit it for free, making educational itineraries for the installation guided by technical personnel and with material delivery", has detailed the councilman Rafael Gómez.
Thus, schoolchildren can learn about the marine fauna that houses this aquarium, the characteristics of seas and oceans around the world, as well as the ecosystem of the Mediterranean Sea.
The content of the activity focuses on the aquarium and the conservation of the environment, strengthen some knowledge on the main characteristics of the seas and oceans and know the organisms of the sea and encourage interest in the environment and its conservation.
Thus, a geographical journey is made by the marine fauna of the planet, reflected in each one of the aquariums, that reproduce the environment of the different oceans of the world including the Mediterranean Sea and the Mar Menor.
This subsidy has been granted since 2008, with the amount destined for this year of 7,000 euros.
