Among the main results of the study, the following data stand out:
Expectations and business climate
Employment and sales expectations are positive both in Murcia and Spain, although the majority opinion is that of stabilization.
The expectations on employment for 2018 have a balance (difference between companies that expect employment to grow and decrease) of 19.8 positive points (with a majority of 72.2% of SMEs that opt for job stability ).
Meanwhile, in Spain there is a balance of expectations of 17.2 points, with a stability percentage of 74.4%.
If we compare this data with the 2017 report, we can see a slight decrease in the balances of expectations, both in Spain and Murcia.
Regarding the growth of its sales, it is observed that regional and national expectations are very similar to each other.
For Spain, in 2018 the balance of expectations reaches 38.6 points, surpassing the regional balance that stands at 35.3.
In both cases, the majority option is the stability of sales with 55% of SMEs in Spain and 56% in the Region of Murcia.
By 2019, the difference in balances is offset.
The balance of sales expectations for 2019 stands at 38.1 points both nationally and regionally.
As regards the assessment of the business environment or business climate, that is, the perception of global confidence and expectations in the economic environment in which the company's activity is carried out, there are no significant differences between Spain and Murcia .
Thus, on a maximum score of 10, SME managers at the national level assess the climate with an average score of 6.5 and 6.6 when it is restricted to the Region of Murcia.
Internationalization
32.1% of the surveyed companies declared to be internationalized, a percentage slightly lower than that of the national sample (32.5%).
However, they present a greater export intensity.
Thus we can see how in the Region of Murcia 29.6% of companies have invoiced more than 50% abroad.
This percentage drops to 25.5% in Spain.
The average intensity of the companies that export is 34.8% in Murcia compared to 32.5% in Spain.
The exporting companies were asked what their sales expectations were in international markets.
On a scale of 1 to 5 (done 1: large decrease to 5 large increase) we can see how Murcia companies have more favorable expectations (3.22) than the national average (3.18).
Digitization
Regarding the degree of digitalization, SMEs in the Region of Murcia show a high percentage of companies that have their own website (80.6%), a moderate active presence in social networks (42.1%), and an average use of CRM programs for customer management (31.7%) and ERP applications (31.7%) and low use of e-commerce platforms (18.7%).
In all cases, the degree of use of these digital processes is slightly lower than the national average.

And 57.9% commercialized new products or services (compared to 60.7% in Spain), and with an importance degree of 4.40.
If we analyze the percentage of companies that consider that they have made very important innovations in their company, we find that in the Region of Murcia, 47.5% of SMEs have made significant changes or improvements in their products or services and 45.2% They have marketed new products or services in a relevant way.
These last percentages are somewhat lower at the national level, standing at 43.9% and 42.3% respectively.

48.9% of Murcian companies have made significant investments in the acquisition of new equipment goods, compared to 45.8% in Spain.
Therefore, although the level of innovation in processes is lower in Murcian companies compared to the national average, the perceived importance of this innovation is higher in the regional case.
